From the rumor mill at the Hollywood Reporter, we're told that there's a secretive Warner Bros action-film project taking place somewhere in the South.
The story takes place in the 1970's, and features two young men on the wrong side of the law.
This sounds kinda familiar, we gotta admit.
The last time we got excited about a Dukes movie, however, we were handed something that was an over-long parody. Good as the chase scenes were in The Dukes of Hazzard 2005 movie, it was a far cry from what many long-time fans had hoped for. This was followed up by a watered-down version of more of the same, in the TV movie, "The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning." After a single TV airing, "The Beginning" was in the DVD bargain bin at Walmart.
Which brings us to wonder, "what next?"
There is optimism in the fact that writer-director Jody Hill was born in North Carolina in 1976. He's from the South. He's just old enough to have watched the original series during the CBS run of 1979-1985, during that critical impressionable age. Maybe, just maybe, Warner Bros is putting together a new Dukes of Hazzard movie project that is more true to the original series, and they've got the right guy at the helm.
Maybe.
We don't even know if this is really a Dukes movie at all - or just something that borrows heavily from it. As soon as we know more, we'll pass it on! Meantime, visit our Forums to see fan reaction and share your thoughts!

Move over, KITT. The General Lee is taking center stage in Las Vegas on May 18 & 19, 2012, during the Las Vegas Star Cars and Knight Rider 30th Anniversary Convention! Once separate events, these shindigs have been combined by powerhouse Vegas promoter Paul Casey.
The vehicles in attendance will include various incarnations of KITT and probably a dozen or more General Lees. In addition to the iconic cars from Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard, you'll find famous vehicles from Smokey & The Bandit, The A-Team, The Green Hornet, American Graffiti, Ghostbusters, and anything else that shows up.
The event is FREE to the public, but star car owners are asked to pony up for the Children's Miracle Network. Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider, co-founder of the charity, is participating in the event and will be signing autographs. "Bo Duke" will be joined by Dukes of Hazzard alumni Byron Cherry, (Coy Duke) and Don Pedro Colley (Sheriff Little.) Catherine Bach has also been invited, but as of HazzardNet press time, her participation is unconfirmed.
Some Knight Rider stars will be there too, but hey, this is a Dukes website and we're just a little selfish. Go to the official Las Vegas Star Cars website for more details about all the celebrities and cars!
We're willing to bet that Dukes of Hazzard fans and General Lees take the event over by sheer numbers . It would serve Knight Rider just desserts for picking on The Dukes of Hazzard during the 80's. Odds are, a lot of Dixie horns will be heard in Las Vegas!

There were questions recently about whether CMT was going to continue airing the Dukes of Hazzard, as no episodes are scheduled for next week. But when we checked CMT's website today, along with national TV listings, it looks like the Dukes of Hazzard will air on March 13 at 2:00 a.m. eastern, with the episode, "Deputy Dukes." Near as we can tell, the Dukes of Hazzard will air on CMT after that, as usual. If we find out anything else we'll let ya know!

Here's a quick rundown of the scheduled episodes, in the order they're supposted to appear:
"Dear Diary" - When Flash buries Rosco's diary, the Dukes dig up the book of dirty deeds! A pair of crooks complicate the matter when they blackmail ol' Boss.
"New Deputy in Town" - She's pretty, and she's poison! It's all part of a getaway scheme, and when the Dukes get in the way, they're given a one-way trip.
"Birds Gotta Fly" - A dirty ruthless, female stock car driver recruits Daisy for a new career in racing. But Boss Hoggs cuts himself in on the deal, and dirty tricks put Daisy at risk.
"Bad Day in Hazzard" - A well-prepared gang of criminals round up the Dukes and the Hazzard law, keeping them pinned down to prevent interference with a heist. Boss Hogg and Jesse Duke are once again allies in a desperate hour.
"Miss Tri-Counties" - A beauty contest is rigged before it starts, but Daisy Duke puts on her best moves to beat the unfair competition!
"Share and Share Alike" - The Dukes find a bag full of stolen credit cards, which lands them in hot water. But things get even hotter for Boss Hogg when Lulu sells the car he hid them in.
"The Law and Jesse Duke" - The Hazzard law goes on strike, Boss Hogg frames Bo and Luke, and Uncle Jesse is conned into becoming the acting Sheriff. Boss lives to regret it, especially after Jesse's imitation of Rosco. Khee khee!
"Dukes in Danger" - Two escaped convicts take the Dukes hostage in their own home, adding Boss and Rosco as captives when they arrive to foreclose on the farm. Their only chance for rescue is Cooter, who seems unaware of their plight!
